Hip-hop artists and frontline water protectors, Nataanii Means and Witko release a #NoDAPL-inspired banger, “God Bless Amerika”.

With the controversial Dakota Access Pipeline nearing completion, water protectors of the Oceti Sakowin are facing the fight of their lives to prevent the project from going through and threatening the primary source of fresh drinking water for the Standing Rock Sioux Nation.

Oglala Sioux hip-hop artists and activists Nataanii Means and Witko join forces for a slow-burning, dark hip-hop ode to the Indigenous movement leading the people’s resistance fight. “I want my sovereignty”, raps Witko, “We takin’ back what we got left”.

Nataanii’s verse shouts out the connections between the hundreds of Indigenous nations uniting in solidarity with the #NoDAPL struggle: “Mauna Kea to Oak Flat / Black Hills to the Glacier Parks / we take it back / Over 500 nations ready to attack”.
